Collector!!
Welcome to my
"page!" Where do I begin??? I started collecting cameras when
I was a senior in college. That was a lot longer than you think!! My
collection primarly consists of colored cameras, toy/novelty cameras,
subminiatures that I can afford to purchase, unusual cameras,
commemoratives like scout or world's fair cameras and sometimes
disposable cameras with advertising. I absolutely love
collecting.....and have been extremely fortunate to meet collectors
from all over the world either in person (or via the internet) thanks
to Ebay. It's a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy collecting as much as I
do. My personal motto is "The bills are paid first, then I buy the
cameras!!"
Where to Find Me
I am the
current President of the Photographic Historical Society
of New England - also known as PHSNE (here is the link for
information) (http://phsne.org)
-- You can always find me at both of the shows that this
camera club sponsors. They are held in Wakefield,
MA every spring and fall. The web site will have accurate information.
You never know what I'll have for sale on my table!! I have also had
the opportunity to travel to camera shows in Europe, Canada, around the
US, etc. Every three years, the Photographic Historical Society in
Rochester, New York Camera Club sponsors a wonderful symposium, with
the next event coming in 2009. Very worthwhile to go and hear speakers
and attend the trade show on Sunday! For more information go to www.tphs.org
- Now and then I like to list items on eBay
(search for seller "-marti" if the link is not working for you) and
hope you enjoy what I have to offer! I have been to the wonderful show
in Bievres, France twice now and hope to return in the near future! My
camera collection was profiled in the August 2003 issue of Country
Living Magazine where they did a 3 page story!!
Unfortunately, the article is no longer
accessible, but I have a reproduced a copy of the original text. This
is my wonderful daughter, who is now a high
school
senior. YIKES!! She
has been going to camera shows since before she was born. I guess I
have bragging
rights when I tell you she's a straight-A student and
very active at school and with other activities. She and I are best of
friends and she loves finding cameras for her mom!! We love to antique
together and have a good time! Collecting runs in my family (gene
pool!!) as my dad collects milk bottles from Connecticut and my dad,
and two brothers collect trains! I'm afraid my daughter has been bit by
the collecting bug now also! I
have just completed 22 years working in the area of
constituent service and have
worked for both a U.S. Senator
and member of the U.S. House of
Representatives all from New Hampshire. I currently work for
The Dept. of Veterans Affairs I hope you enjoy collecting as much as I
do and maybe we'll run into each other one of these years!!
I'm also always on the lookout
for new and interesting cameras to add to my collection. If you have a
camera that I might like to add, why not email
me? I love comparing notes with other collectors.
